Human rights are the basic rights and freedoms that belong to every person in the world, regardless of their nationality, religion, gender, caste, or background. These rights ensure that every individual can live with dignity, equality, and respect.

The concept of human rights became globally recognized after the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights by the United Nations in 1948. This document laid the foundation for protecting fundamental rights such as the right to life, freedom of speech, education, and equality before the law.

In India, human rights are protected by the Constitution, which guarantees Fundamental Rights to all citizens. These include the right to equality, right to freedom, right against exploitation, right to freedom of religion, cultural and educational rights, and the right to constitutional remedies.

Educational institutions like S.S. Memorial College, Ranchi play a vital role in promoting awareness about human rights.

Promoting human rights means standing against discrimination, violence, and injustice in all forms. Students and educators must work together to create an inclusive and safe environment where everyone’s rights are respected.
